Mike is now booking solo shows as a one man band! Debuting June 4, 2011, as part of Smokin in Steele, Mike literally does it all. Using a combination of vocals, harmonica, effects pedals, looping, and beatboxing, he creates every sound on stage. Refering to his music as combination of "trance blues", a term coined by the legendary bluesman Otis Taylor, and "harp-boxing", as labeled by Memphis-phenom Brandon Bailey, Mike jumps from acapella arrangments of songs like Son House's, "Grinnin' In Your Face", to solo harmonica compositions like Sonny Boy's, "Nine Below Zero", all the way to the hip-hop flavored sounds of R.L Burnside's, "Its Bad You Know".
Combined with original compositions, audience interaction, and story-telling, the Red Rocker of the harmonica goes back to his roots to deliver a blues-based performance that both pays tribute to the legends of the blues and moves blues and the harmonica into the 21st century.
